GARR Workshop 2023
8-10 NOVEMBER 2023, Rome
The GARR workshop is an event for networking experts from the university, education and research sectors. In this year's edition we will present the new GARR-T network, now completed, and all the new opportunities offered to users thanks to its innovative design. A special focus is dedicated to collaboration among organisations for cybersecurity, also we will address many other topics, from the organisation of campus networks, to cloud infrastructures, to data centre networks, to new services and applications to support the constantly evolving requirements of GARR user community.

Main focus of this edition is the interconnection of knowledge. The world of research and education is gearing up for an extraordinary season filled with exciting and demanding challenges, thanks in part to the NRRP investments, and is in greater need than ever of interdisciplinary exchange and advanced skills to exploit and operate digital services to the best of their abilities.
In this context, it is important to create research infrastructures to support the activities that regularly handle vast amounts of data and demand high performance for their processing, transmission, and storage.

SOSTENIBILE/DIGITALE - DATA AND TECHNOLOGIES FOR THE FUTURE

The theme of this edition is the digital sustainability and the use of data and technology in the coming future. With “digital sustainability” we mean both the sustainable ways to develop technology and the ways in which digital technologies can foster positive impacts on the enviroment, society and economy (as per the goals of Agenda 2030).
IDEM Day 2021

he IDEM DAY is the chance to meet, attend training and debates for the IDEM representatives and for those in the research and education community who are interested in the subject of digital identity. This year's programme will be completely online, but the format is still interactive: thanks to the Open Space Technology virtual sessions, participants will play a leading role not only in the discussion of the most current issues but also in the creation of the agenda.

Questa scelta è dovuta all’incertezza legata all’evoluzione della situazione Covid-19 e alla necessità di salvaguardare la sicurezza di tutti. Il programma sarà articolato su 5 giornate tematiche dedicate a: Rete e GARR lab, e-learning e DDI, applicazioni, cloud e edge computing, sicurezza e identità, fruibili singolarmente o come parte di un percorso.

Since the beginning of GARR history, this technical workshop has been an important meeting for experts in networking in the research and education community: an opportunity to receive professional updates and discuss about the trend topics of this domain.
This year, the programme will focus on Software Defined Networks, on the current developments both on the European backbone GÉANT and on other research networks as well as on telcos and on the changes that these innovations will bring for the R&E organisations’ campus network. We will also talk about cloud, apps and micro-services and how their constant growth is changing the role of infrastructure and network experts. Finally, there will be space dedicated to the themes of digital identity and cybersecurity two of the main pillars of GARR infrastructure.

DATA REVOLUTION
GARR Conference is the annual meeting of users, operators and managers of the Italian national education and research network aimed at sharing experiences and comments on the use of the network as a tool for research, training and culture, in different contexts and disciplines
The core themes of this editions are data, artificial intelligence and technology transfer both towards the enterprises and single persons. We will talk about open data and services, cybersecurity, industry 4.0 and its relations with research and innovation. We will discuss how education should be rethought in order to keep the pace with the continuous evolution of ICTs, also with the help of these very same technologies.
