Marcello Maggiora is a computer scientist who is responsible for the IT infrastructure of Politecnico di Torino, Torino, Italy.
In his career his scientific and technical interests have covered several fields, ranging from Biometrics Checks, to Computer Graphics and Multimedia, Authentication Architectures, Multimedia Databases, Web Technologies and Computer Networks.
He has been actively involved in the design and development of several network projects including the design and the implementation of large local and metropolitan wireless networks at Politecnico di Torino and in other national structures.
He has also served in a number of scientific advisory boards both academic and professional. He has been a member of the scientific committee of the Joint laboratory on Internet, Protocols and Network Architectures (LIPAR) at Politecnico di Torino and Istituto Superiore Mario Boella (ISMB), a research and innovation centre operating in the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) domain.
Marcello Maggiora was the Technical Project Manager of the Wireless sensors network for energy management in educational buildings (Wifi4Energy) academic initiative.
Marcello Maggiora is the Politecnico di Torino delegate in the CRUI-GARR Italian national council and a member of the scientific and technical committee of the Italian Research & Education Network. GARR is the Italian Research & Education Network (NREN). Marcello Maggiora is also serving as a member of the technical council of Torino Piemonte Internet Exchange (TOP-IX).
His current interests concern ICT technologies and solutions for business continuity, disaster recovery and digital schools.
