Enzo è alla guida del team di Research Engagement and Support in GÉANT, che ha il compito di fornire supporto agli utenti finali coinvolti in collaborazioni e progetti scientifici pan-Europei e internazionali, ma anche di curare le attività di promozione dei servizi GÉANT e di coinvolgimento di nuove comunità. Inoltre, coordina la partecipazione della comunità delle NREN GÉANT nelle attività di supporto alla Big Science, quali SKA, Fisica delle Alte Energie, ITER, EuroHPC, etc. In passato è stato Network Manager per il Dipartimento di Fisica dell'Università di Napoli "Federico II", responsabile per il networking e il computing delle attività LHC, Associato Tecnico all'esperimento ATLAS del CERN e alla Sez. di Napoli dell'INFN.
Enzo is the Head of the Research Engagement and Support Team in GÉANT, in charge of providing user support for pan-European and international scientific groups and collaborations, and in the Science and Research engagement activities. He also coordinates the GEANT NREN community within the activities in support of Big Science groups, the likes of SKA, HEP, ITER, EuroHPC, etc. With a background in computer science and networking, his previous positions were Network Architect and Manager with the Department of Physics of the University of Naples "Federico II", in charge of the computing for physics experiments, and Technical Associate to the ATLAS experiment collaboration at CERN and to the Italian National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN).
Le infrastrutture al servizio della ricerca si sono evolute, e continuano ad evolvere, per servire sempre meglio le necessità dei loro utenti, e quando possibile, cercando di anticiparle. Ma quali sono gli scenari attuali e futuri che la comunità delle NREN si trova a fronteggiare? Quali sono le sfide legate all'evoluzione delle tecnologie, dei modelli di utilizzo e soprattutto della produzione scientifica globale? Il talk cercherà di fornire alcuni spunti di riflessione, mostrando una visione di alto livello sul futuro prossimo delle grandi collaborazione scientifche e il loro impatto sulla comunità delle NREN.
The evolution of the research infrastructures is a neverending journey, aimed to better and better serve their user base, and whenever possible to preempt their needs. But what are the current and future scenarios that the NREN community is facing? What are the upcoming challenges coming from the technology advancements, the change in the user's way of working and, primarily, the global scientific production? This talk will try to raise the audience's interest in the topic, presenting an holistic view on the future of the Big Science collaboration, and what could be their impact on the NREN community.
