Jean-Luc Dorel è un programme officer della Commissione europea (DG CONNECT). Dopo aver lavorato come consulente di networking, come ricercatore presso la UCLA Computer Science e come Alliance Manager presso Cisco Systems, è entrato a far parte della Commissione europea nel 2005 come responsabile degli aspetti di networking nell'unità di e-infrastructure di DG CONNECT.
Nel 2009 è diventato responsabile del come project officer per GÉANT. Dal 2016 sta sostenendo la Next Generation Internet strategy. Ha conseguito il dottorato in Informatica all'Università Versailles-Saint Quentin
Jean-Luc Dorel is a programme officer at the European Commission in DG CONNECT. After working as a networking consultant, as a Research Fellow at UCLA Computer Science and Alliance Manager at Cisco Systems, he joined the European Commission in 2005 as responsible for the networking aspects in the DG CONNECT e-Infrastructures Unit.
In 2009 he became responsible as Project Officer for GÉANT. Since 2016 he is supporting the Next Generation Internet strategy. He gained his PhD in Computer Science at University Versailles-Saint Quentin.

Internet è stata inventata nel mondo accademico con la rete delle reti e il WWW pensati per servire le necessità dei ricercatori. Da quel momento in poi si è spostata verso il mondo commerciale ed è diventata una parte essenziale delle nostre vite come consumatori, membri della società, professionisti e cittadini. Oggi pochi grandi ecosistemi hanno i dati e le capacità per offrire servizi completamente integrati. È questa l'evoluzione che ci aspettavamo? Ci sono modelli alternativi? Qual è il ruolo della regolamentazione? Cosa Cosa significa una Internet più umana? Come restituire un maggiore controllo agli utenti? Qual è il ruolo per il mondo accademico in questa evoluzione? Quali sono i piani della Commissione Europea in quest'area? Ecco alcune delle domande alle quali si cercherà di rispondere in questo talk.
Next Generation Internet: a new programme from the European Commission
The Internet has been invented in the academic world with the network of network and the world wide web for serving researchers requirements. Since that it moved into the commercial world and became an essential part of our lives as consumers, members of the society, professionals and citizen. Today few large eco-systems have the data and processing capabilities to offer fully integrated services. Is it the expected evolution? Are there alternative models? What is the role of regulation? What means a more human internet? How to give more control back to the users? What role for the academic world in this evolution? What are the European Commission plans in that area? Here are some of the questions to be addressed by this talk.
