       GARR Conference is the annual meeting of users, operators and managers of the Italian national education and research network aimed at sharing experiences and comments on the use of the network as a tool for research, training and culture, in different contexts and disciplines.

The core themes of this editions are data, artificial intelligence and technology transfer both towards the enterprises and single persons. We will talk about open data and services, cybersecurity, industry 4.0 and its relations with research and innovation. We will discuss how education should be rethought in order to keep the pace with the continuous evolution of ICTs, also with the help of these very same technologies.

On 1-2 October there will be several training opportunities for GARR user community. These courses span from classes dedicated to trainers (Moodle: how to manage a course e How to create and disseminate educational material online), to courses on Public Speaking, on cybersecurity (PenTest & Rooting) and on networking (Software Defined Network). Giacinto Donvito è attualmente coordinatore tecnico del progetto EOSC-Hub, in cui dirige anche il WP10. È anche coordinatore tecnico del XDC e leader del WP5 nel progetto DEEP-HybridDataCloud. È coordinatore tecnico INDIGO-DataCloud e coordinatore del WP5 (PaaS Platform Development). È inoltre responsabile del CMS e del centro di calcolo Alice Tier-2 di INFN-Bari dal 2004. Ha partecipato a tutti i progetti EGEE ed EGI e ha lavorato a diversi progetti di bioinformatica (BioinfoGRID, LIBI, BioVeL), acquisendo esperienza nel supporto degli utenti da diverse comunità scientifiche. È stato coordinatore tecnico del progetto LIBI ed ha lavorato per IGI (Italian Grid Initiative), dove è stato coinvolto nel test delle soluzioni Cloud Computing e dei servizi di rete. Ora sta lavorando nel progetto ReCaS per testare soluzioni innovative per la gestione dello storage e sistemi batch. Nel progetto PRISMA, finalizzato all'implementazione di una soluzione cloud IaaS + PaaS completa per la pubblica amministrazione e le comunità scientifiche, è a capo del WP che cura l'implementazione del livello IaaS. Ha collaborato fin dall'inizio con la EGI Cloud Task Force per supportare la distribuzione INFN-Bari basata su OpenStack.

Giacinto Donvito is currently working in the EOSC-Hub as Technical Coordinator and WP10 Leader. He is also Technical Coordinator of the XDC and WP5 Leader in DEEP-HybridDataCloud project. He is the INDIGO-DataCloud Technical coordinator and WP5 (PaaS Platform Development) coordinator. He is also responsible of the CMS and Alice Tier-2 computing centre at INFN-Bari since 2004. He has participated in all the EGEE and EGI project and worked for several bioinformatics projects (BioinfoGRID, LIBI, BioVeL), gaining experience in supporting users from different scientific communities. He was the technical coordinator of the LIBI project. He worked for IGI (Italian Grid Initiative) where he was involved in testing Cloud Computing solutions and grid services. He is now working for the ReCaS project to test innovative solution for storage management and batch systems. In the PRISMA project, aiming at the implementation of a full IaaS+PaaS cloud solution for Public Administration and scientific communities, he leads the WP taking care of implementing the IaaS layer. He has collaborated since the beginning with the EGI Cloud Task Force to support the OpenStack based INFN-Bari deployment.
