       GARR Conference is the annual meeting of users, operators and managers of the Italian national education and research network aimed at sharing experiences and comments on the use of the network as a tool for research, training and culture, in different contexts and disciplines.

The core themes of this editions are data, artificial intelligence and technology transfer both towards the enterprises and single persons. We will talk about open data and services, cybersecurity, industry 4.0 and its relations with research and innovation. We will discuss how education should be rethought in order to keep the pace with the continuous evolution of ICTs, also with the help of these very same technologies.

Introduzione al Panel: AI - THE AI (R)EVOLUTION

Luigia Carlucci Aiello è stata professore ordinario di Intelligenza Artificiale presso il Dipartimento di Ingegneria informatica, automatica e gestionale Antonio Ruberti (DIAG) della Sapienza Università di Roma per oltre trent'anni. È stata direttrice del DIAG e preside della Facoltà di Ingegneria dell'Informazione, Informatica e Statistica. Fondatrice e prima presidente dell’ AI*IA, l'Associazione Italiana per l'Intelligenza Artificiale, ha coordinato diversi progetti di ricerca nazionali, gruppi di lavoro e reti di eccellenza dell'Unione Europea. Prima di entrare a far parte della Sapienza, è stata ricercatrice del Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche a Pisa e ha lavorato presso il Laboratorio di Intelligenza Artificiale dell'Università di Stanford, diretto da J. McCarthy. Al DIAG ha fondato un gruppo di ricerca in Intelligenza Artificiale; si è occupata di rappresentazione della conoscenza e ragionamento automatico. Ha applicato tecniche di intelligenza artificiale alla costruzione di sistemi intelligenti; ha svolto ricerche sulla robotica cognitiva e sull'applicazione di tecniche di pianificazione automatica alla sicurezza informatica. Ha ricevuto numerosi riconoscimenti internazionali e un dottorato honoris causa.

Luigia Carlucci Aiello has been full professor of Artificial Intelligence at the Department of Computer Engineering, automatic and management Antonio Ruberti (DIAG) of Sapienza University of Rome for over thirty years. She has been in charge as a Director of the DIAG and Dean of the Faculty of Information Engineering, Computer Science and Statistics. Founder and first president of AI * IA, the Italian Association for Artificial Intelligence, she has coordinated several national research projects, work groups and networks of excellence of the European Union. Before joining the Sapienza University, she was a researcher at the National Research Council in Pisa and had worked at the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory of Stanford University, directed by J. McCarthy. At the DIAG, she founded a research group in Artificial Intelligence; she dealt with the representation of knowledge and automatic reasoning. She applied artificial intelligence techniques to the construction of intelligent systems; she has carried out research on cognitive robotics and on the application of automatic planning techniques to computer security. She has received numerous international awards and an honorary doctorate.
