Stefano Zanero ha ricevuto un dottorato di ricerca in Ingegneria dell'Informazione presso il Dipartimento di Elettronica, Informazione e Bioingegneria del Politecnico di Milano, dove è attualmente professore associato di “Computer Security” e “Informatica Forense”. Tra i suoi interessi di ricerca figurano la virologia informatica, la sicurezza dei sistemi cyber-fisici, e la cybersecurity in genere. Oltre all'attività didattica presso varie strutture universitarie italiane ed estere, ha partecipato come relatore a numerosissimi convegni internazionali, ed è autore di oltre 90 articoli scientifici pubblicati su riviste e conferenze. È Senior Member dello IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), della IEEE Computer Society (per cui siede nella Board of Governors internazionale), e della ACM (Association for Computing Machinery), oltre ad essere socio fondatore di AIPSI (Associazione Italiana Professionisti della Sicurezza Informatica), capitolo italiano di ISSA (Information System Security Association), di cui è “Fellow” e siede nel board of directors internazionale. Giornalista pubblicista, ha ricevuto in passato un premio per la sua attività divulgativa. È inoltre fondatore e presidente di Secure Network, una società di consulenza, formazione e servizi alle imprese in tema di sicurezza dell’informazione con sede a Milano e Londra; co-fondatore di 18Months S.r.l., azienda che sviluppa soluzioni di cloud-based ticketing; co-fondatore di BankSealer, spinoff universitaria nel settore FinTech dedicata all’analisi delle frodi.

Stefano Zanero received a PhD in Computer Engineering from Politecnico di Milano, where he is currently an associate professor with the Dipartimento di Elettronica, Informazione e Bioingegneria. His research focuses on malware analysis, cyberphysical security, and cybersecurity in general. Besides teaching “Computer Security” and “Computer Forensics” at Politecnico, he has an extensive speaking and training experience in Italy and abroad. He co-authored over 90 scientific papers and books. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE, the IEEE Computer Society (for which he is a member of the Board of Governors), and a lifetime senior member of the ACM. Stefano co-founded the Italian chapter of ISSA (Information System Security Association). He has been named a Fellow of ISSA and sits in its International Board of Directors. A long time op-ed writer for magazines, Stefano is also a co-founder and chairman of Secure Network, a leading information security consulting firm based in Milan and in London; a co-founder of 18Months, a cloud-based ticketing solutions provider; and a co-founder of BankSealer, a startup in the FinTech sector that addresses fraud detection through machine learning techniques.
