Alberto Sangiovanni Vincentelli è titolare della cattedra Edgar L. and Harold H. Buttner dell'Institute of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences all’University of California, Berkeley. Nel 2001 ha ricevuto dall’Electronic Design Automation Consortium, il Kaufman Award per i suoi pionieristici contributi all’Electronic Design Automation. Nel 2011 ha ricevuto la medaglia IEEE/RSE Maxwell "per contributi innovativi che hanno avuto un impatto eccezionale sullo sviluppo dell'elettronica e dell'ingegneria elettrica e nei campi correlati". È co-fondatore di Cadence e Synopsys, società quotate al NASDAQ con una capitalizzazione di mercato di oltre 34 miliardi di dollari. Attualmente è membro del CdA di Cadence Design Systems Inc., KPIT Technologies, Cogisen, Expert System e UltraSoC (Chairman of the Board). È stato Senior Technical Adviser del Presidente di Elettronica, società di produzione di apparecchiature di difesa elettronica, dal 2010. Svolge attività di consulenza per alcune grandi imprese: Intel, HP, TI, ST Microelectronics, Mercedes, BMW, Magneti Marelli, Telecom Italia, United Technologies, Camozzi Group, Pirelli, General Motors, UniCredit and UnipolSAI.È membro dell’Advisory Board del Politecnico di Milano ed è Chairman dell’International Advisory Board di MIND (Milano Innovation District). È membro della United States National Academy of Engineering, della IEEE e dell’Association for Computing Machinery. Ha ricevuto una laurea honoris causa dalla University of Aalborg (Danimarca) nel 2009 ed un’altra dal KTH (Stoccolma, Svezia). Ha pubblicato più di 950 articoli scientifici e 19 libri.

Alberto Sangiovanni Vincentelli is the Edgar L. and Harold H. Buttner Chair of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the University of California, Berkeley. In 2001, he received the Kaufman Award for his pioneering contributions to EDA from the Electronic Design Automation Consortium. In 2011, he was awarded the IEEE/RSE Maxwell Medal “for groundbreaking contributions that have had an exceptional impact on the development of electronics and electrical engineering or related fields”. He co-founded Cadence and Synopsys, listed in NASDAQ with market cap of over 34 Billion USD. He presently serves on the Board of Directors of Cadence Design Systems Inc., KPIT Technologies, Cogisen, Expert System, and UltraSoC (Chairman of the Board). He has been the Senior Technical Adviser to the President of Elettronica since 2010. He consulted for Intel, HP, TI, ST Microelectronics, Mercedes, BMW, Magneti Marelli, Telecom Italia, United Technologies, Camozzi Group, Pirelli, General Motors, UniCredit and UnipolSAI. He is a member of the United States National Academy of Engineering, an IEEE and ACM Fellow. He received an honorary Doctorate from Aalborg University (Denmark) and one from KTH (Sweden).
