Claudia Battista è la Direttrice del Consortium GARR. Ha conseguito la laurea in Fisica all'Università di Roma Sapienza nel 1987, con una tesi sperimentale presso i laboratori nazionali di Frascati dell'INFN. Da allora si occupa di reti di trasmissioni dati, partecipando attivamente alla progettazione e realizzazione della Rete GARR. Cura nel tempo l’evoluzione dell’infrastruttura di rete che risponde alle specifiche esigenze della ricerca scientifica e dell’intera comunità accademica e di ricerca in Italia. Tra il 2013 e il 2016 ha coordinato il progetto di potenziamento strutturale GARR-X Progress, che ha attivato un’infrastruttura di rete interamente in fibra ottica e basata su tecnologie di networking all’avanguardia, nelle quattro Regioni della Convergenza. Ha coordinato la partecipazione del GARR ai progetti per la realizzazione ed evoluzione della rete della ricerca europea GÉANT e ai progetti per la realizzazione della rete di interconnessione delle reti accademiche e di ricerca dei paesi che si affacciano sul bacino del Mediterraneo (EUMEDConnect). È Vice Rappresentante (Deputy) per la rete GARR negli organi societari della GÉANT Association (in precedenza in quelli di TERENA e DANTE), l’associazione delle Reti della Istruzione e della Ricerca in Europa che promuove e coordina attività di ricerca e sviluppo relative alle tecnologie di rete e al loro dispiegamento nell’ambiente accademico e di ricerca e che decide le strategie di sviluppo e di gestione della rete europea GÉANT.

Claudia Battista is the Director of GARR. She graduated in Physics at the University of Rome Sapienza in 1987, with an experimental thesis at the INFN national laboratories of Frascati. Since then he has been involved in data transmission networks, actively participating in the planning and implementation of the GARR Network. Over time, Battista has overseen the evolution of GARR network infrastructure, making sure it always responded to the specific needs of the entire academic and research community in Italy. Between 2013 and 2016 she coordinated the GARR-X Progress upgrading project, which activated a network infrastructure entirely in optical fibre and based on cutting-edge networking technologies in the southern regions of Italy. Battista coordinated the participation of GARR in the projects for the creation and evolution of the European research network GÉANT and in the projects for the creation of the interconnection network of the academic and research networks of the countries bordering the Mediterranean basin (EUMEDConnect). She is Deputy Representative (Deputy) for the GARR network in the GÉANT Association (previously in those of TERENA and DANTE), the association of Education and Research Networks in Europe which promotes and coordinates research and development activities related to network technologies and their deployment in the academic and research environment and which decides the development and management strategies of the GÉANT European network.
